English language arts

Annette Ryden is TTA's seventh and eighth grade English teacher. After completing a major in English, a minor in Social Anthropology, and a Film Studies Certificate from Michigan State University, Annette worked as a Public Relations Specialist for the Greater Toledo Area Chapter of The American Red Cross. While at the Red Cross, she provided assistance in the Hurricane Andrew and Mississippi Flood relief efforts. She returned to school at the University of Toledo and earned licensure in secondary English, a license endorsement for Reading K-12, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She taught reading in first and second grades in addition to all levels of 7-12 English.  Prior to joining the TTA faculty, Annette was also a Data Coordinator for Toledo Public Schools.  Annette enjoys football Saturdays at Spartan Stadium, reading fiction and nonfiction, (usually spending her summers looking for new and exciting books to read with her students), the occasional Scrabble match with her husband and daughter, and reading as many online newspapers as possible. She shares her love of books with her Labrador Retriever, Gracie, who often has good "taste" in books also.
